What types of Texas hog hunting is available at McCune Ranch

Day hunting is walk and stalk hunting, expect to walk about 5 miles per hunt.  Ground blind and tree stand hunting over feeders in wooded areas near swamps and creek beds is available as well.

Evening and Night hunting is from ground blinds and tree stands overlooking lighted feeders.

Is Hog Hunting Dangerous

More than 99 percent of the time, feral hogs will run away from humans if given the chance.  However, if a hog feels cornered or is injured it will charge using it’s low center of gravity and sharp tusks to protect itself.  Our guides will provide info on how to avoid one of these encounters and how to react if you find yourself in this situation.  We have never had a guest injured by a feral hog.

 About Texas Feral Hogs

The State Of Texas has collected a significant amount of information about Feral Hogs and the damage they do to the environment and Texas Agriculture. For more information click on this link to the Texas Parks And Wildlife Website.

Wild hogs reproduce at an astounding rate.  The sows can have up to two litters per year of up to 12 piglets per litter under favorable conditions like we have in the deep woods of East Texas.  According to the state of Texas if you eliminate 70% of the hogs on your property each year, you are only breaking even.  So come out to McCune Ranch Outfitters and help eliminate some Wild Texas Hogs.

 Do you guarantee success

At McCune Ranch we have a success rate of about 75%.  Since we are a Free Range hunting property we space out hunts between groups so that we do not over hunt the hog population.  Typically there is about 4 to 5 days between hunting parties.

Since we are Free Range we cannot guarantee success, but we work as hard as possible to provide our hunting parties and opportunity to harvest wild hogs.
